What flag would God wave? Would it represent everyone or just the believers? Would it be colorful or colorless? Would the flag represent the wealthiest in the world? The poorest? Both? Would it represent Socialists? Capitalists? Anarchists?
Would God require that the flag represent real time truths, or could the flag be aspirational?
Would God be OK if it were made into a pair of shorts, trousers, socks - or a bikini? What about a gun tote? Would God care if it was left out in the rain?
How would God want people to feel when they saw the flag? Intimidated? Welcome? Welcome and intimidated?
If people who, from a religious perspective, fundamentally believe in the same thing, yet live in different regions - and those regions go to war - who does God support? Does God have preferences?
Is God more concerned about the colors of the flag, or what they stand for? Could it be black to include all colors - white to reflect the absence of color - or does God prefer rainbows?
Would God kill for it? Would God make others do the same? Would God allow for other flags?
Would God even understand flags?
That is the real question - and it’s simply something to think about. Especially while forming perceptions about different cultures around the world based on media coverage, religious indoctrination and myths.
We all want to be under the flag that God waves. The reality is, however, that no such flag exists. At least that we know of. That being said, one day we’ll all know. Just be careful departing this existence holding too tightly to any one flag. There’s a good chance it may be the wrong one.
